Stealth Rocks must be removed from the game. Switching-in CANNOT be avoided, it's retarded to punish players in a strategy game for doing a mandatory move.
And I'm not talking about switching-out, I'm talking about sending a Pokémon out once another one has fainted. That's bullshit. We might as well punish Chess players for making a move or punish Football players every time they kick the ball.
As for the move itself, it's poorly executed. It fucks over Flying-, Fire-, Bug- and Ice-type Pokémon. Which are already at a disadvantage defensively already since those are not defensive types at all. It also fucks over Rock-types since it breaks Sturdy and favors Steel- and Ground-types since those take almost no damage and get the fucking move.
To fix Stealth Rocks:
>halve the damage output. 50 % on switch-in is ludicrous
>make it a rare move. Maybe even specific to Rock- and Ground-types
>allow Rock-types to take no damage from Stealth Rocks
>allow Rock-types to remove Stealth Rocks by switching-in
>remove or halve the damage even more when switching-in after another Pokémon has fainted
Another idea would be for SR to do damage based on base HP so stallmons get the most damage from it. That way something like Shedinja may survive, Shuckle may take a tiny fraction of damage, but Chansey and Toxapex would take up to 50 % of damage at switch-in. Stall in singles is the most boring strategy to play against, and it's also one of the most consistent strategies there are; so it must be discouraged.
