>Characters and their implementationThe game struggles to maintain consistent characterization of its main cast throughout the game. I already posted about how ridiculous Maisy's flip late in the game was, but the more I think about it, the more this is an endemic issue with the entire damn game. Mordecai stops being a streetnog once he realizes WE WUZ KANGZ, Sean is initially portrayed as an autist and a bit weird, but ultimately good natured and well mannered to eventually becoming the butt of many jokes and hated by Sylvester for seemingly no good reason when he tolerates far more garbage from the local lesbians. Sylvester flips between fearless fool who doesn't know when to quit and spineless cuck who is literally only moving forward because the player is controlling him and forcing him to do so. The less I say about Luciano here the better; I've already said everything I need to say about him elsewhere in the threads. The only characters who truly keep consistent characterizations the whole way through are Arturo, Rosewell, and the lesbians and all 4 of them are absolutely insufferable, although Arturo and Rosewell are at least fun to hate. I cannot say the same about the ESG-mandated dykes though and they actively detract from every scene they're in. Being rude, petty, and catty is not witty writing; the "sick burns" are not endearing, they're just tedious especially when the characters do literally nothing else of value the entire game. Later on Sylvester goes through a dad arc and seemingly becomes a beacon of stability for his kids (of varying quality as characters) while seemingly healing himself in the process.....until suddenly he's not because the narrative needs Leo to be pushing him over the edge psychologically even though all of Syl's behavior and dialogue showed he was trending in a healthier direction rather than not.
