The ONLY thing that even remotely suggests we MIGHT get a new type is the fact that they haven't told us Sylveon's type yet. That's fucking it. And even that could be interpreted and rationalized to mean just about anything.
Why is everyone shitting their pants over the type in the first place when it's BLATANTLY obvious that the new bonding mechanic they hinted at earlier this year will be utilized by Sylveon and that's what's new and special about it. It's just going to be fucking normal type.
All these people saying it'll be a new type are likely the same folks who kept clinging to the 'I-i-it's not a form, it's a separate Pokemon!' schtick. Sorry, your headcanon theories just don't hold much water.
