in all honesty I never made it to Red in Crystal though, heck I don't even remember if I went through all of Kanto in Crystal more than once I did that and I got a shiny Cleffa which is now a shiny Clefable on my team. Dizzy Punch is great.

I only found my first completely random shiny in Black about a month or two ago though, a Venipede. I was doing a blind hunt on multiple games at the same time. I thought people who did that before were crazy, but... it worked for me in about an hour.
I pray that I never find a shiny in the Safari Zone that runs away. I'm trying to look for a certain-natured female Dratini in Firered right now too (long story, but I want it in a safari ball) and I'm so scared I'll find a shiny before that.
