Remember how ORAS was announced like two days after Nintendo reported massive losses and angry investors started jumping on their collective asses? I think they pressured GF to reveal ORAS early to make investors shut up, hence no foreshadowing of any kind, no actual reveal trailer, and the complete info drought up until E3 2014 (which I assume was when ORAS was originally supposed to be revealed).
Call me crazy but I think that's how it really went.
