Most boring shit I have ever had the displeasure of playing. I had heard lots of bad things, but, around a year after release I figured I'd give it a try since i loved gen 7. So, I bought a used copy of Shield. Here's my experience.
>typical starting town
>first few routes--"okay, this is fine i guess"
>but then, suddenly
>WILD AREAAAAA
>spend the next 2 hours exploring and catching new mons
>having so much fun
>catching all sorts of pokemon, i'm building a fun & awesome team
>"looks like i've seen everything, guess i'll move the story along"
>get to next town
>nothing to see--fight gym leader and leave
>move on to dungeon
>it's a straight line; nothing interesting to find
>get to next town
>nothing to see--fight gym leader and leave
>move on to route
>straight line
>get to next town
>nothing to see--fight gym leader and leave
And repeat. I slogged through it all the way to Leon, lost once, and then shelved the game indefinitely. After you explore the Wild Area, there's nothing else to see. What's really sad is that Legends: Arceus is essentially a more realized vision of what they were trying to do, but didn't have the time for--and even that game has issues. If not limited to time restraints, I know Game Freak could make incredible games. It's a shame that they're delegated to making absolute slop because TPC knows that it'll sell anyway.
thanks for reading my blog you guys :)
