It's the werewolf test where there's a fine line between CRYPTID and FURRY depending on how you design it. We're also well past the point where furries are in the art industry and especially at big positions in major studios (You can see the blatant influence in some recent Disney and Dreamworks movies), so it kind of makes sense that many of these design tendencies are leaning towards "stuff that appeals to a furry artist".
