>>45784882I'm glad you enjoyed the first chapter. It's a smaller work I'm doing on the side for 8 chapters or so. I'll pick it up again for a second part once I'm done with my massive project I've been working on since June.
>>45785072Just shooting some things off the top of my head for a second character I think would go well, since you're going down the cartel route:
Young kid who got sold into cartel duty because of his parents debt. Naive and foolish.
Someone from another country / region who does work of them on side. Shady and mysterious.
MC could befriend the elderly driver of the cargo, who is at first apprehensive and begins opening up.
I suppose to make it more useful for you in particular, the reason these sound like good idea is because I'm taking the major aspects of what I imagine to be a league aspirant (smart, ambitious, athletic, maybe sheltered with a narrow world view, younger, book smart - not street smart), and creating a would-be partner that can challenge or conflict with one or many of these different aspects of the MC. I hope this gives you insight into at least how I try to create characters for a story.
To put it simply, there's a reason the dynamic between Jessie and Walt is as interesting as it is: It's because they're are effectively night and day opposites of each other. I'm not saying to go for something as extreme, but hopefully it gives some insight into how to make your story more interesting.
