Thematically he should have won, they introduced the Orange MegaShuriken that was obviously going to be the winning move, they wrote the Flare finale so they wouldn't have to write a Champion League, they did everything to make Ash's victory work without having an impact. But then some greedy suited executive motherfucker said, "he can't win."
This is what happened. You know this is what happened, I know this is what happened, Ash himself knows this is what happened. Even when he won Alan had a look of, "what the fuck happened?" on his face as if to say, "I shouldn't have won, what is this shit?"
It's probably one of the most blatant and arguably worst cases of executive fuckery since the GS Ball.
