Even with Platinum's improvements, the games still felt pretty slow, which I feel is a significant detriment to my enjoyment.
While there are indeed a few gems, I also felt Gen 4's soundtrack was pretty unmemorable.
I also felt a lot of the new Pokemon were pretty forgettable/bad, too. I actually did like most of the cross-generation evolutions, which most people seem to mark hugely against Gen 4. Either way we wound up with abominations like the Burmy line, but not to say some of the original lines aren't cool
like Lucario.The Pokemon selection, as big as it was, didn't feel diverse enough. I really hated running into similar things for several routes in a row, whereas in Gen 5 you ran into new things almost every area.
All that said, Gen 4 is probably my least favorite compared to the rest. Doesn't stop me from liking it as I do any other game, though.
