After beating Falkner i waited untill night to attempt to encounter a whooper hoping that theyd be the replacement for psyduck i was looking for, went to route 32 and got exactly what i was looking for. (Not knowing that its spawns in union cave at level 8 instead of 4) I then went to Union Cave through the Ruins of Alph Entrance and got an Onix, I decided since the cave had geodude at a reasonable rate it would be worth grinding up Whooper and after its first level up it got Crit and immediately went down, So back without a good elemental type again, at this point im a bit worried of trying to get through union cave with the mons ive got so i decide to go through Route 36 instead since im at a better point to take on Whitney than Bugsy, On the way over I ran into a trainer that had 2 Abras, the first one went down easy only knowing teleport, i then decided to throw i Onix to get in some easy XP however the 2nd one for whatever reason was hiding ice punch and got a ohko on it... so with the first 2 new encounters down i can at least look too the last 2 i can get, i went right down to the patch of grass and immidiantly ran into a growlithe, This works out fantastic since i know that eveloution stones are purchaseable at a high cost but it wouldnt be like regular crystal where im waiting for some dude to call me up saying they found one, after that it was sunday and i took on the bug catching competition and get Ariados,, After a tiny bit of grinding i took on the gym for Goldenrod, For Whitney i have Rattata take out the Clefairy and send Geodude to deal with Miltank and the Rollout spam and we get through with No issue, with the winnings i go to the Dept store and grab the fire stone to evolve Growlithe.
