To make myself clearer. The SoundFont of HGSS is quite mediocre (it gets mogged by countless SNES/GBA/PS1/DS games) and it's badly used during battles.
The guy in charge of remixing Red's theme didn't get that the first notes are played alone to evoke a majestic and /dangerous/ feeling (think of the music from Psycho or Jaw).
He thought that adding shit on top of one another makes a music better. That's why he put that cringe harp which gives an entirely different feeling.
And it's not just a case of "old good, new bad". There are some remakes that do know how to make the music up to date while keeping the original intent but this aint it.
It's not bad but doesn't reach the mark.
