Before they begin to form their own thoughts and opinions and things, children typically express ideas and social behaviors they pick up from the people raising them. They are very impressionable. It's why a child's formative teen years are sometimes called the "rebellious stage". Because they are learning new things and beginning to develop their own opinions which can often contradict the behaviors they picked up from their parents. And did you know? Children are imprinted with a role model's negative opinions more strongly than their positive ones? Racism, sexism, discrimination. You teach them and they will learn. It's all simple developmental psychology.
