Hoenn has about 6 obligatory routes for the main story before postgame but everyone whines like the game forces you to go through the entire 16 routes the map has.
I won't argue against the shitty pokemon variety these zones have, it's horrible, but you can travel from to Lilicove to Mossdeep in less than a minute if you use repels; they're never as big as you people make them to be.
