If you cry about the Battle Frontier keep in mind that different battle formats objectively bring more legitimate depth and variety to battling than the forced 3v3 singles with lame gimmick shit that Emerald had. PWT is still better than both because playing in separate tournament units against unique opponents is much more fun and fair than the cheap streak crap.
