Lana wasn't much of a shipping bait other than her blushing from being teased of the boyfriend joke which she would probably have blushed if it was directed to Kaki or Sophocles as well. The most shipping was pretty much with Ash and Lillie and their development. I wouldn't call Lillie a beta after the ending where she confessed to Ash and gave him her Clefairy doll though. She is surprisingly the only girl that understands Ash the most.

You mean just Lillie. Mao didn't really care much about Ash and what he believed rather he doubted him many times. Lana just went with the flow but wasn't actually interested in what he did.

Lillie understood Ash the most with all his good and bad. She even confessed and fell for Ash. This is the best end for Ash when he gets married in the future with Lillie.

I disagree. Lillie is nothing like Serena. SM Ash and Lillie's chemistry was great when they worked together and helped each other with their issues. You even have Lillie cheer Ash up when he was in a struggle and see them develop closer. DP Ash and Dawn was alright but the only thing they had were the high touch, but they never exactly had a change in friendship, while they were just the same ol buddies the whole series.
