Gamefreak has closed the fucking book on the clean and cut "gens" with this move, they're fucking OVER you retard. Gens died with SWSH. SWSH killed them outright. The concept has been muddying and falling apart since XY so I don't know how this can possibly seem surprising when there are Pokemon with zero generation designations like Meltan now.
The new approach is now, and it's two separate mainlines. Just like Mario with it's 2D and 3D, or LoZ, or Sonic. You are a Modern/Classic 2D/3D franchise now, Pokemon fans. Better get used to it.
Legends is the future of big budget gamefreak made mainline titles.
And on the side, gamefreak will be contracting out for other companies to keep up "classic" style Pokemon games, which return to the series iconic grid style instead of being an abominable half step between a proper 3D game and a gameboy RPG. SWSH style games would be too redundant with legends, they're over, the return to traditional grid formats definitively separates these games in the consumers mind and makes both viable purchases together. Just like how a 2D and 3D mario game don't overlap in gameplay.
You can seethe to the grave about this if you want, but it won't change a thing. SWSH style is dead. Grid and Legends is the future of Pokemon. And Legends might suck, but grid Pokemon games being made again does more to make good Pokemon games a possibility again than anything else in the last 8 years of the franchise's history.
