I generally prefer female pokemon. It stems from working with animals all my life; and I have found that the females are always less tempermental and uppity, less shit, piss and fight happy, than the males.
However, I also realise this is a game. But it's not something I go out of my way for. I just notice I tend to have more female pokemon in general.
The only exception is gardevoirs. I don't care what sex they are, they all get women's names. Always.
