>>48538247Nidoking was a pretty good Pokemon for a large part of the OU meta precisely because it dicked all over Stall, which is better than ever due to Heavy Duty Boots making them give no craps about entry hazards. Its low speed meant it wasn't going to be able to do much against faster Pokemon, but if you used a Pokemon slower than it, something was going to die unless you can make a risky prediction or have Blissey.
Toxapex was a particular problem, being basically unkillable by anything besides Nidoking, Regieleki, and Kyurem. When Crown Tundra dropped, so did Kyurem due to threats like Pheromosa that chased it out. It was better to use the slower, harder hitting Nidoking since it wasn't stuck in an awkward position between hardcore wallbreaker and sweeper.
After several waves of bans, the Pokemon that chased away Kyurem went away, allowing Kyurem to come back and supplant Nidoking. Well, that and the Slowtriplets. It actually had another effect on the meta - Dark types started to be used because they were some of the few Pokemon that could handle Future Sight spam. Weavile and Bisharp joined Tyranitar in OU, and are starting to chase out the Slowtriplets (one already dropped to UU)
