>>56137834Tell me, are you supposed to take something like Machamp as seriously as Inteleon? Most human-like pokemon either have goofy features like Machamp's speedo, Hariyama's big pants and Sawk and Throh's muppet faces and stitching pattern, or they're weirdos like Mr. Mime and its strange hands and face, Jynx and Gothitelle with their dresses and donut lips, Medicham with donut lips AND big pants, and Toxtricity's gross amphibian features that balance out its grungy guitar player aesthetic.
My problem with Inceleon is that its a starter pokemon that tries to have a cool final form while also trying to be a bizarre humanlike creature, so you're expected to take this uncanny valley living organism 100% seriously as your very first animal buddy. I don't think that Starter Pokemon in particular can (and shouldn't) have that same leeway to be so strange and offputting. They're the biggest and most important first impression on the game if not the series as a whole, and should take a lot of care into presenting themselves as loyal and lovable magical creatures that start off cute and turn into powerful best friends.
I'm not saying that pokemon can't be human-looking, or that starters can't walk on two legs, or "jobmons" are bad, or that pokemon can't have character, but I prefer that starter pokemon don't try so hard to be serious human people. I feel that Inteleon is the worst example of such a thing.
