It would have driven the normies and small kids away from the mainline series because who would buy a console for a single game, just like with Fortnite when it got ported to mobile.
This would have made Game Freak to give it their all after Sun/Moon to compete because let's face it, the only thing that can make Game Freak do more than the bare minimum is a AAA Pokémon game that is not made by them, mobile or not, which is the case here.
A very unpopular opinion, I know, but I've had it for a while now.
