They only de-aged Serena because they wanted all the lead girls to be same aged as Ash. Clemont & Lillia's near engagement and Alain x Manon shows that the anime has no issue with age gap romance. It actually better since most shippers are over 13 year old.

They can copy "Electric Tales of Pikachu" by introducing the stacked older sister of an adversary rival who happen to be the second person Ash find attractive and often hang out with despite his dislike toward her brother. Just the idea of Ash going to the bitch alone with an older stacked girl is hotter than anything other lead girls can do.

Ash and Gary settled their rival so she missed her chance. The anime could introduce somebody like Lear from Pokemon Masters as Ash's new rival who hold a petty grudge over him for delivering his very first defeat while his older sister becomes a Love-interest. That would make a fun dynamic where Ash consistently bicker with her brother while admiring his older sister. Example
