This sucks ass. This was a real sleeper hit too. Probably because it was poorly distributed. I honestly hadn't given this move much thought before, but earlier this year I was experimenting and I discovered that it passes through Protect. Long story short you could have a +1 Kartana or a +1 Tapu Bulu in complete safety, so long as your support mon didn't die before getting it off. And if your Rototiller user was faster (Dugtrio for example) your mon could attack with +2 the second turn.

I also hate this being gone. Worked well on trapping sets. I don't think its a coincidence that Gamefreak also decided to introduce Soul Dew or whatever its called this gen. Gotta shill the new moves I guess.
