It's a valid point to make honestly. The more "original creature" designs of early generations is DEFINITELY something that has become less and less frequent.
Pic related are the kind of Pokemon that don't really get made anymore. The things that you can really only refer to as more abstract kinds of monsters, bugbears, and whatsits. It is definitely something I miss more than anything in Pokemon, even when I LIKE it when Pokemon is willing to get specific with something. They could just use a better balance of it, I guess. Even just a little.
