>>16653803you think gardevoir has it bad? at least your waifu gets attention
Gen 3:
+strong signature move and great stats for its job
+preeminent subseeder
+stands out among grass types with its stat spread
-special learnset is pretty small but that'll surely change with time right?
Gen 4:
+signature move gets buffed
+focus sash helps make a buffing set usable
-signature move becomes physical in the type split, as do many of his options
-signature move is passed around to many Pokemon who can use it better
-does not learn the special boosting move introduced in this gen
-does not learn much of anything except Focus Miss actually
-a great deal of priority is introduced, including supereffective priority carried by many teams as a counter to dragons. Sceptile learns none of these moves making his speed useless.
-faster, better grass type is introduced but is swiftly banned to ubers. Sceptile still has a niche, surely?
Gen 5:
+Sceptile recieves the hidden ability Unburden
-Unburden is useless
-Priority continues to proliferate
-Hyperoffense reaches its peak, Sceptile can no longer subseed effectively
-Whimsicott even beats him at speedy subseeding
Gen 6
+new crit mechanics improve Leaf Blade's usability somewhat
-priority, priority everywhere, and Sceptile still learns none of it
-passed over for a Mega Evolution while Charizard gets two and Blaziken gets one
-unchanged by stat retcons despite desperately needing 20 points of special to move to attack
-the most used pokemon is a Fire/Flying type with priority Brave Bird
-Greninja is a faster, better Grass type than Sceptile
it is a terrible, terrible time to be a Grass person and especially a Sceptile fan
