>What in your opinion is the best mainline game, and what is your favorite spinoff?HGSS and Shadows of Almia, I've always had a soft spot for the Ranger games. I like Explorers of Sky a lot as well and the Colosseum games.
>At what point do you think the soul was lost and the magic died?Gen5 was the first generation I skipped and then Gen6 went ahead and killed any remaining interest for good, though I dipped my toes back in Gen7 and then again with Gen9, both of which I did enjoy. I was happy to see my country finally being done as a region, I found some new favorites and the DLC was also very good.
>What do you think the future of pokemon is?I think I'm done for good with the next game being Kalos, the region that killed my Pokemon obsession to begin with, and whatever comes after that will be more of the same. New region with a one-off generational gimmick, more powercreep, outdated graphics and performance. They have been getting better in the story/characters department but that doesn't carry a game alone. I played SV because Paldea was special to me, but after that I basically have no reason to continue playing the games.
