Heck probably easier for conceptual artists too since Humanoid pokemon require much less imagination to create.
There's also pic related which was an actual quote said by Masuda (I think). And he genuinely believes that people don't like monstrous looking Pokemon anymore.
But whatever the case it's unlikely we'll ever see Monstrous/Non Human looking Pokemon Starters again.
