To my knowledge we've not seen full pans of the larger towns either, but from what I've seen, Motostoke (the industrial city in the centre) is definitely larger than any town in the 3DS games besides Lumiose. And if it's a single loading zone then it's definitely something the 3DS games couldn't handle. But that's IF it's a single loading zone, I won't pretend we know whether it is or isn't.
The point stands though, it's really nonsensical to call the game a 3DS port when it's biggest selling point and central feature is something that is the exact opposite of what defined the 3DS games because of hardware.
