There's certainly articles about how GF and Creatures Inc work together to make the models, with GF sending the designs to Creatures and them doing the modeling and animation.
But that doesn't mean that Masuda saying the modeling is hard is invalid here, because in this case GF and Creatures are acting as one and the same.
I looked up the credits for XY and SM. The copyright for TPC and Creatures is listed, but they don't like list Creatures under the modeling section. XY had 47 people under "Pokemon Character Modeling" and SM only had 17. We know they got extra help in XY to do the 720 models up to that point.
It seems that when they say "Creatures makes the models" it's more or less saying "GF uses employees from Creatures to make the models". GF and Creatures work in tandem here, so if there's issues with the modeling, it's something from both sides in this case.
I mean, it makes sense too. Creatures is a company with like around 100 employees and they work on ALL the spinoff stuff. So it's never been like they have all their efforts put on making the models for the mainline games when they have all the spinoff titles, the TCG and other merchandise they handle.
