It's pointless if all of that progress can get wiped for smoke-bombing in co-op or your game crashes in the wrong way. Simply put, the devs are egotistical shitlords, who you have to fight with to fix said bugs that could get you banned with zero chance of a reversal, which makes playing despite the other problems impossible. Said other problems are also why Temtem is dying, go figure, because the game is needlessly grindy to the point of being a second job, and has shitty fomo microtransaction tactics when it's a full-priced game. Other than that, Temtem is honestly fine. Monster design is primarily subjective; could you argue they could do better? Sure! But someone's going to like what they make, and that's not inherently invalid.
