Lucario users are always trying to score their bonus points for STAB, Wobbuffet's Psychic type and high HP may make an opponent think twice about using a physical attack (which most Fighting- and Steel- damage-dealing moves fall under).
M. Lucario users are also hesitant to switch out, since it will reset their stat changes. The one turn it takes to use SD/NP is already fatal enough with Lou's low Def/Sp. Def, having to spend another turn to use it again will almost always cause him to fall, forcing the Lucario to fight the Wobbuffet without switching out.
Also, Wobbuffet is a decent tank, due to its huge HP stat. It might even survive the attack while countering double the damage it took
