What makes these two counterparts exactly? I can understand Ludicolo and Shiftry since both the Kappa and Tengu are very popular yokai in Japan. And Zangoose and Seviper represent a mongoose’s relations with venomous snakes. Lunatone/Solrock and Kyorge/Groudon are pretty damn obvious. But what about these two? Their concepts are very different to be compared. Why were they chosen to be exclusive counterparts in their debut games?
