It’d be cool if more pokemon had significance in the games beyond simply wandering around in the tall grass and waiting to be captured. With the various abilities and qualities pokemon have, a huge number of scenarios could be implemented into the story.
For example:
>Your character comes upon a small town which is under the control of an especially powerful Malamar, which organizes human fights for its own amusement.
>An entire stretch of ocean has experienced an outbreak of Jellicent, which sink any ship that enters their territory. Nearby fishing and shipping industries suffer.
>A family farm is feeling the effects of a durant infestation, as the armor plated ants sneak in under the cover of darkness, stealing crops and livestock.
