>>52539718Honestly the whole idea of Candela being Goh's sister makes so much sense as at least give him some form of connection to the PoGo stuff, plus Willow makes way more sense as a mentor figure for Goh, heck mixing other characters like Gary or Tokio would make more sense if you make then part of the other teams like Mystic and Instic as well.

Maybe there were some contractual issues with Niantic that couldn't be resolved or for whatever reason, they wanted to keep their options "open" for Goh, or the PoGo storyline stuff was deemed unworkable with the world tour format. Pretty sure they didn't had any issues with Niantic as PoGo actually went as far to also crosspomote a few times with the anime, you can even make Goh as your character in their game.
The story also works for the world format since most of the game are research missions given by willow, and he gives all sort of context and lore about each region and their Pokemon.
