Although Gen I contains an iconic region, characters and mons and a strong and enjoyable endgame it ultimately suffers from being buggy, slow, very graphically dated, unbalanced and possessing a terrible box and inventory management system that makes collecting items and Pokémon a hassle.
This is definitely NOT the best gen and Genwunners claiming it's the best are high on nostalgia.
I'm already almost finished with Crystal, I'll be posting some time next week with my results.
