There was a phase in my life when I started with bulbasaur during third gen in leaf green. Buddy the Venusaur, he was awesome and worked perfectly with Smokey the Magmar. I remember for the islands I bred them both and Never evolved them. Buddy Jr. the Bulbasaur and Smokey Jr. the magby.Although I chose my favorite starter of all time, squirtle in Y, I eventually I plan to breed Bulbasaurs to use the mega as a sub seeder I think it benefits from thick fat more than anything else has.
I used to have a friend back in the days of red and blue who thought she was superior for choosing bulbasaur and it kind of made me jealous at the time. I will always be a proud Squirtle man; Bulbasaur will always have a place in my heart though.
Also I loved Bulbasaur in the anime, he was probably my second favorite after Squirtle.
