I absolutely loved the first season. I really liked the Orange Islands season too...but for some reason I stopped watching half way through. I can't remember why. Maybe it coincided with some changes for me at school, or at home. I also really got into WWF around this time so maybe that drew away my attention? The last ep I remember is the one where Ash won the badge against the older dude on that island who was flirting with Misty. Ep name Naval Maneuvers.
Anyway the past few days I decided to pick up where I left off. One ep a day after dinner. Starting with Snack Attack (Snorlax eating all the grapefruit on island after island).
Holy fuck it's kino and soul. I missed this so much. The art style, the low res, the general vibe of the characters and dialogue and the scenes. The music! The innocence of the adventures. This was peak comfy, my childhood. Nothing will ever be this good again. Ugh, the SOVL...
When does it go downhill, which should be the last season? Johto? First Hoenn season? When does the series lose the SOVL?
