Considering one episode prior to Laverre Gym it will have Shota, and in the opening it showed Shota idolizing/ following Ash's footsteps so I don't think Ash will show a losing side to Shota to make Shota idolize Ash. And I'm sure this will be the first time Shota will see Ash's battle style and delve into Ash's style just like everyone else in the XY anime.
But who knows, everyone in 4chan never agrees with shit so I'll just pretend Ash will lose.
