Yes, Game Freak are terrible game designers, and yes, their audience is almost entirely adults because they struggle to bring kids into the fandom, but just because you can't immediately see abilities in the PC menu doesn't mean they're gone and they're dumbing down the game for 4-year-olds.
You can't see them on the main screen in SwSh either.
