I've done the exact same shit, played through every single version at least once, and I don't have any complaints. Not saying your complaints aren't valid for what you've done, but they're not the end all, be all of points. Most things I've seen said complain about too many, not too few, mons.
I'm sorry things have gotten dull for you, I am. But unless you've played each set more than three times, I don't know what to say. There are enough families in each gen to keep you satisfied on variability for at least one play through of each game in the set (maybe not XY, though). Maybe even double, if you're only doing a six mon team staying mostly the same through the game, depending on the gen.
Anything more than that is, unfortunately, an edge case that can't be catered to.
