Some food for thought: Mystery Dungeon has established that Smoochum can communicate with other pokemon like normal, but Jynx had already been established to have their own unique human-like language. This means that when a Smoochum evolves, it loses the ability to speak with other non-Jynx pokemon. Jynx's recruited messages in mystery dungeon are also in an unknown language of mostly punctuation marks.
