i thought about the nuckelavee a lot cos how the hell do you make a skinned horse demon pokemon without it being colossally edgy? since their myths come from the orkney islands i decided to associate it with bagpipes, with the pipes making the legs of the horse and the bag the body, and the red tartan suggesting the flayed body of a nuckelavee without being grimdark gorey. went through a few revisions because god it's hard to draw a tiny nuckelavee without it looking like a dude with a huge horse boner. i moved the humanoid portion back a bit so it's almost like a scorpion tail to hopefully avoid the horse stiffy.
