>>56076576The changes were enough to make some Pokemon more meta. Scolipede went from NU to banned from UU. Krookodile's boosted bulk, coupled with Intimidate, let it be a nasty tank that was just barely not viable enough for OU. Seismitoad's Attack boost would later make it a potent Rain threat in Gen 8 VGC and OU even if it was outclassed by Mega Swampert in Gen 6 and 7. The Duggy buff kept it meta relevant in singles, so relevant that it got Arena Trap banned in Smogon singles. Mantine's +20 HP buff was enough to shoot it into meta relevancy in Gen 7 even if it fell off as the gen went on. Pelipper was turned into the best non-restricted Drizzle Pokemon, and Maquerain was actually useful after its buff.
Not all of the changes were winners, but they more or less kept many of those weaker Pokemon relevant in Smogon singles even if they were never going to see VGC excellence.
