It's funny because when I was a teenager I went through a stage of not wanting to play E rated games and only watching anime cause cartoons were for babies. Now though I think I watch more cartoons than when I was a kid and besides niche anime shit Nintendo games are the only stuff I'll play.
Not to ramble, but I feel like just because media is presented in a way that is clearly child-friendly It doesn't mean that it can't be enjoyed by an adult audience.
I don't know why you put the immature point at gen IV I'd say it and V put the most effort into trying to appeal to adults.
