They're retiring Ash himself, and if they keep Pikachu, who's even bigger than Piplup, in any way, they'll give it to someone else. It's likely that they'll just have a dedicated Piplup character in the next anime.
It's not that you don't make sense, anon. It's that you're expecting something actually good, without having any reason to believe in them actually making good things.
They've also shelved shillmons before. Piplup was always big and Dawn still spent 9 years without getting anything at all.
Just please, don't be too hopeful
