One of the most uncomfortable things about Pokemon is that they die. Like actually die and not just faint. Pokemon like Kabutops in the dex entries are said to chop up their prey and suck up the juices.
Ghost Pokemon either steal, or otherwise devour your soul. Your very essence of being is eaten by a moderately sapient animal. Terrifying isn't it? (Though some settle for just straight up killing you.) Frosslass freezes her prey solid and keeps them as ice scupltures. While Glalie prefers to freeze them solid, and then eat them "leisurely".
Also old Pokemon was way more brutal about straight up killing Pokemon as seen in this pic related. The first game also mentions Team Rocket killing pokemon as well.
