Well Silver certainly turned into a shitshow once we reached the Elite Four. With only two deaths until then I was riding high, confident it would go swimmingly. How wrong I was. The team fought hard until we finally reached Lance. Njord was the first to fall and I had not expected to go without death but when Balder was oneshot by a hyper beam I knew it would be an uphill battle. By the time we'd reached his final pokemon Charizard we only had 3 pokemon left. Hyldr, Sigurd, and Sigyn. They didn't stand a chance. Beaten and broken, we limped out of the champion's room defeated.
But all hope was not lost. Inspired by their comrades demise a new group of fighters rose to the challenge of defeating Lance. The training was long. Very, very long. After a full day of on and off grinding everyone was finally up to snuff.
Ask the Sudowoodo
Harbor the Gyarados
Idunn the Jumpluff
Grid the Delibird
Hiedrun the Ampharos
Odin the Donphan
These six brave warriors took up the mantles of their predecessors and strode into the elite four, defeating all those who stood in their way until they finally made it to Lance. The battle started off much smoother, whittling Lance's team down to only his last Dragonite. The beast lashed out with all of its strength, felling party member after party member in its death throes. It wasn't until only two remained that Idunn saw an opportunity and lulled the Dragonite to sleep, with Hiedrun dealing the final blow with a mighty thunder punch.
Plenty of heroes have fallen this day. Their flesh may fail but their souls live on, hopefully to join us as champions in a future adventure. For now though, they rest and we start the next leg of our journey. Pokemon Crystal.
