Doing a challenge emerald nuzlocke with the following additional rules plus the regular three nuzlocke rules now:

>No buying healing items or repels
>No in-battle item use (except held items)
>Set battle mode
>No fleeing from battles
Picked Mudkip as the starter twice and got mauled by a route 102 lass with a Shroomish both times. Third attempt worked out better:
Picked Mudkip (Neptune) again and unfortunately got into a wild battle on Route 103 before being able to buy balls, so I couldn't catch a mon there. After defeating May easily I headed back to Littleroot, recived the Dex and caught a Lotad (Sargasso) on Route 102. Headed back to Littleroot again, to grind as far as possible without risking to lose any team member before healing at mom's house. Note: Sargasso proved to be extremely based immediately. Thanks to Absorb it basically grinds itself. Traveled to Petalburg and finally managed to defeat that Lass narrowly with Sargasso. After helping Wally, I caught Wurmple (Cassy) in Petalburg Woods and grinded as far as possible before healing at the Center again and continued to Rustboro. Caught Poochyena (Styx) on Route 104. Before challenging Roxy, I also visited Route 116 where I caught Whismur (Minny). Tried to grind the three new mons but it proved difficult. Wanted to at least evolve either Sargasso or Mudkip before challenging Roxy but failed to do so. My fears were unwarrented, though: Sargasso swept the whole gym, though Roxy's geodude got it down to 3HP once. Sargasso evolved after the fight and I healed at the Rustboro Center. Will now have to help the Devon Clerk and get to Dewford without any healing inbetween.
