Ash does not routinely get angry at Serena, May does not seem to care if Ash is condescending unless he is also rude, even moreso with dawn, and Ash is simply generally nice to all the other girls after.
Ash and misty have a variety of contexts, its a shame because aside from that dynamic Misty isn't a particularly great character.
They tried to do something similar with Iris but Iris and Ash are only believable as friends midway through their series, and everything Iris charged Ash about just pointed out gripes fans were already having with the show. Him being an unskilled retard in generation V makes the whole Misty dynamic annoying.
It also doesn't help that Iris appears happy to watch Ash stumble, while Misty's insults came out of frustration. Iris herself was too composed to sound like she wasn't just bullying a retard.
The marathon also show that Ash doesn't get angry when he's merely poked fun at by misty or brock, while he goes bananas at Iris.
