>>26463185Diamond and Leafgreen were my very first Pokemon games (bought them together) so I'm a bit biased, but going through the mountains several times did make you really rely on your pokemon, specially on the way to Snowpoint City. It did feel like a big world, and it wasn't the easy peasy story that gen 6 has, but it also didn't require as much grinding as the first games.
